The Flexiclick series of drill drivers with interchangeable chucks was introduced to the Bosch Professional range a few years ago and now Bosch have integrated a similar concept into the PowerForAll cordless platform with the AdvancedDrill 18. When stripped of all accessories it can be used as a 1/4" hex chuck drill driver but attach the right chuck or adaptor and it can fulfil a range of additional tasks. This kit includes a complete accessory set with angle and excenter adaptors, a keyless drill chuck and a magnetic screw holder. The magnetic screw holder fits over the bit holder on front of the machine and enables screws to be held in place magnetically, leaving you with a free hand to grip the workpiece if required. Swap out the screw holder for the keyless chuck for drilling into materials like wood, metal and plastic, or fit the angle or excenter adaptors for working in tight spaces, for example when driving screws directly underneath a tabletop or inside a cabinet. The AdvancedDrill 18's clutch provides 20 torque positions plus a drill setting, and the design of the machine makes operation easy and intuitive. Gears are changed by switching between screwdriver or drill mode, and a switch above the trigger lets you select forward or reverse mode as required. A handy indicator light on the top of the machine displays the current direction of rotation and an LED worklight above the battery illuminates the work area. Lightweight at just 1kg with battery installed, the drill can be used comfortably at height or when working for extended periods. The AdvancedDrill 18 is also an energy efficient machine. The motor is a brushless design, a feature more commonly found on professional grade cordless tools, and means that it can go for longer before having to recharge batteries. Additionally it benefits from a Bosch Syneon chip, an intelligent energy management circuit which constantly monitors load conditions and adjusts the amount of power being drawn from the battery accordingly. This means that battery power is conserved during light duty tasks and an optimum power boost is provided for more demanding jobs. All of this means you can get much more runtime per battery charge, especially when combined with a high capacity battery. Speaking of batteries, the AdvancedDrill 18 is part of the Power for All 18v Alliance, which means it shares battery compatibility not only with other Bosch Home & Garden tools, but also with those from other manufacturers who have incorporated the battery platform into their cordless ranges.
